Good question!

Let's see if we can help answer it here.

- One thing we'll say right off the top is that our promotions are not quick. Our goal is excellence in technique across a wide array of martial arts disciplines. Learning and showing improvement in striking, Judo, Jujitsu (self-defense), and groundwork just to name a few areas takes time. We make no apologies for this. If your goal is quick promotions, we aren't the place for you. For more info on promotion criteria, time in grade expectations, etc. please check out our rank requirements/expectations here

- We have never and will never charge for belt/rank testing. You pay your monthly dues but the main currency expected to earn a promotion is effort. We also accept *blood, sweat, and tears.

*We promise to try to keep the blood and tears to a minimum with the kiddos but this is martial arts...

- We strongly encourage a healthy, balanced lifestyle - even with the young kids. We recognize that habits and ways of thinking developed now carry forward in to adulthood. One of the goals is to promote scholastic excellence, good dietary habits, and good exercise habits by encouraging self discipline and recognizing that one can't always be responsible for the result, but they can always be responsible for their level of effort.

We practice and train the Art of Kyu Shin Ryu.

Kyu Shin Ryu in its totality means "The art of governing body, mind, and spirit." It is the desire of the Kyu Shin Ryu practitioner to grow and develop in all three of these areas and have them function as one.

Kyu Shin Ryu is an extensive and eclectic Martial Art combining elements of:

Jujitsu, Judo, Karate, Aikijujitsu, Kyusho Jitsu, and Kali

TLDR; You learn how to fight on your feet, on your knees, and on the ground.. With and without weapons. Practical Self-Defense focus not sport/competition focus (though competition can be fun).

what makes us diffrent?
